• The first idea for the development of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences was proposed by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1946.

• All India Institute of Medical Sciences is the largest institute in India with a total facility of about 2,478. The cardiology or cardiovascular surgery center has 200 beds, the neurology center has 75 beds, and the rotary cancer institute has 200 beds- all of them are super specialties of AIIMS.
• AIIMS's main campus is mainly spread into 5 different locations that are;

1. East Campus has an OPD block, medical college, the main hospital block, ward block, and 4 specialty centers (cardiothoracic & neurosciences, ophthalmic center, cancer center, & dental education)
