General Outlook
- Instytut Pomnik-Centrum Zdrowia Dziecka, often known as “Children’s Memorial Health Institue” internationally, is one of the largest pediatric hospitals situated in the heart of Warsaw.
- The IPCZD plays a dual role; as a scientific institute responding directly to the Ministry of Health and as a highly specialized hospital. IPCZD has 40 years of experience under its belt where they received the highest A+ category.
- IPCZD employs roughly 2,000 physicians and staff and its facilities include 17 wards and 29 disease-specific out-patient clinics.
- IPCZD also collaborates on medical research with Poland’s leading medical institutes and schools as well as non-governmental organizations.
- The idea behind this institute originated in 1965, in the pages of Zycie Warszawy newspaper to remember the heroism of children and adolescents who were perished during World War 2. This resulted in the foundation of the monument-pediatric hospital in 1968 which is today known as Instytut Pomnik-Centrum Zdrowia Dziecka.

Fundaments
- In 2021, 67,343 patients were hospitalized in the IPCZD’s different departments and 173,649 consultations were provided which indicates the large capacity of this institute in handling patients with utmost efficiency.
- IPCZD carried out the largest number of pioneering medical procedures in the country throughout its 40 years long history.
- Some of the first complicated procedures done at IPCZD are; first left ventricular assist surgery, inter-arterial administration of a chemotherapeutic in the treatment of malignant eye cancer, and the first thyroid resection in a child. IPCZD was the first institute in Poland to employ modern technology to conduct these complicated procedures.
- IPCZD became the first institute in 2020 in Poland to utilize an Artec 3D scanner to monitor invasive craniosynostosis treatment in children. Artec 3D scanner made it possible to assess the shape of the head in 3D before and after the treatment of prematurely fused cranial sutures.
- In 2020, the first thyroid resection in a child in Poland was conducted at IPCZD, during which the FLUOBEAM LX apparatus was utilized to locate and protect the parathyroid glands. This technology significantly reduces the risk of postoperative hypoparathyroidism in children.
- IPCZD although renowned for its state-of-the-art medical facilities, this institute also offers a buffet facility to its patients, employees, and guests.
