Dr. Vrajesh Udani

Dr. Vrajesh Udani is an American-trained Child Neurologist and Epileptologist with extensive experience in pediatric neurology and complex childhood epilepsy. He has been associated with P.D. Hinduja Hospital for several decades and has developed a comprehensive epilepsy program with a particular focus on pediatric epilepsy surgery. His clinical work involves multidisciplinary assessment and management of children with complex neurological conditions, supported by neurosurgical, radiological, nuclear imaging and neuropsychological expertise. The epilepsy program has conducted regular surgical conferences since 1998 to assess patients for epilepsy surgery, and the team has performed several hundred procedures. Dr. Udani is also involved in the management of developmental and neurological conditions associated with neonatal and perinatal brain injury, including hypoglycemic brain injury. His areas of clinical and academic interest additionally include neuroimmunology and childhood central nervous system autoimmune disorders. He leads the Hinduja development clinic, where children with developmental concerns are supported by a multidisciplinary team that includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists and counsellors. His professional work also includes participation in national and international epilepsy initiatives, consensus activities and clinical research.

Dr. Udani has contributed to clinical research in pediatric epilepsy, neurological disorders and developmental conditions. His research interests include childhood epilepsy, pediatric epilepsy surgery, neonatal and perinatal brain injury, neuroimmunology and neurological disorders with developmental implications. He has served as Principal Investigator in multiple multicentre clinical trials and research studies involving epilepsy, infantile spasms, migraine, ataxia telangiectasia, Rett syndrome, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, autism spectrum disorder and neonatal hypoglycemic brain injury. His academic work has also included publications and textbook contributions in pediatric neurology and epilepsy.
