Dr. Puneet Ahluwalia is a urologic oncologist and robotic surgeon who serves as Senior Director and Head of Urologic Oncology and Robotic Surgery at Medanta, Gurugram. His clinical work focuses on the surgical management of urological cancers, using robotic, laparoscopic, endourological, and conventional open approaches. He has performed more than 1,000 robotic procedures as a console surgeon, including complex operations for cancers of the prostate, bladder, kidney, adrenal gland, testis, and penis.

Dr. Ahluwalia undertook advanced robotic urology training at the University of Miami in the United States and completed fellowships in robotic urology and uro-oncology, including uro-oncology and transplant training in Japan. He has been performing complex robotic uro-oncological procedures since the early development of robotic surgery in India. His work has included robotic radical prostatectomy, partial nephrectomy, radical cystectomy with intracorporeal urinary diversion, adrenalectomy, retroperitoneal lymph node dissection, and video endoscopic inguinal lymph node dissection (VEIL). He has also worked on establishing robotic uro-oncology services at multiple centres.

A certified proctor for Intuitive Surgical’s da Vinci robotic systems, Dr. Ahluwalia has trained urologists in complex robotic uro-oncological procedures. He directs a one-year clinical fellowship in robotic uro-oncology recognised by the Urological Society of India and also serves as programme director for the Vattikuti Robotic UroOncology Fellowship. His academic work includes research publications in national and international journals, conference presentations, and peer review for medical journals. He is also the convenor of the Delhi Uro-Oncology Forum.
